Get to Know Me

I'm a beautiful young black mare with a little star on my forehead. I was born around January 2023 in Utah's Swasey herd area, where I began my life wild and free.

On July 21, 2024, when I was just a year and a half old, my life changed when I was rounded up and removed from the land I called home.

The BLM identified me as #2831,  But I'm so much more than a number. I'm a wild horse with a story, a future, and a very special friendship.

One of the most important parts of my life is my close bond with Wild Horse #3997. Although we came from different wild horse herds, somewhere along the way we found each other. Today, we are inseparable. We stay close together and never seem to want to leave each other's side.

For wild horses, companionship matters. And for the two of us, having each other through this journey has become something truly special.

Could you be the one to give me a name of my own?

Now, at approximately three years old, a wonderful new chapter is waiting for me. After more than two years away from the range, I have the opportunity to leave holding behind and experience a life with room to roam at my forever home with Rewilding America Now.

And the most wonderful part? My dear friend #3997 is part of this Freedom Ride, too. We have the opportunity to begin our new lives together, with thousands of acres to explore and the companionship we have come to depend on.

I may have lost the freedom I was born into, but thanks to the kindness and generosity of people who care, I have the chance to experience that freedom again.

My story isn't finished. The best chapter may be just beginning — and I hope to share it with my best friend.

More of My Journey

A Friendship Worth Protecting

Wild Horses #2831 and #3997 share an extraordinary bond. Despite coming from different herd areas, these two mares have become inseparable and are rarely seen apart.

Their friendship is a beautiful reminder that wild horses form strong social relationships. Helping them reach their forever wild home together means protecting not only their freedom but also the companionship that has become such an important part of their lives.
