Get to Know Me

My name is Cactus, and I'm a beautiful gray mare who spent many years roaming the wild landscapes of Nevada's Clan Alpine herd area. I was born around January 2014, and for nearly ten years, the open range was my home.

On November 9, 2023, when I was almost ten years old, my life changed when I was rounded up and removed from the land I called home.

The BLM identified me as #2418, But today, thanks to someone who cared enough to help give me a second chance, I have something much more special — a name of my own.

Cactus.

Now, at approximately twelve years old, a wonderful new chapter is waiting for me. After nearly three years away from the range, I have the opportunity to leave holding behind and return to a life with room to roam, surrounded by other wild horses, at my forever home with Rewilding America Now.

I may have lost the freedom I was born into, but thanks to the kindness and generosity of people who care, I have the chance to experience that freedom again.

My story isn't finished. The best chapter may be just beginning.
